Patagonia is a great place for Merlot, since the climate is cool. This wine is made without oak, and is from vines that were planted in 1947, making this remarkable value for money. Very pure on the nose, with fresh plums and a hint of leathery spice. The Rio Negro is the best place in Argentina for Merlot. Lovely purity of fruit on the ﬁnish.
