If you are a white wine lover and bored of the usual grapes (Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, etc...) I have something to talk to you about; you may not have heard about this grape, original from Argentina; it is dry, very aromatic, and has a great personality. It's called Torrontés.
This grape has as a parent, Muscadet d'Alexandrie and for that reason, it combines characteristics of the old and new world. It grows in the foothills of the Andes: Mendoza and the best ones come from Cafayate, in Salta; the highest wine vineyards in the world.
Every time I have given it to taste, everybody adores it because of its perfume of rose petals and flavors of white peach and lemon zest.
At Casa Malevo Wine Shop we have a few torrontés options. On this occasion, I would like to recommend the Zuccardi Valles Torrontés (£17.65). It has been made by Sebastián Zuccardi, one of the winemakers of the moment, and its vineyard won "Best World Vineyard" for the second year running.
